Welcome to Environment Florida

Environment Florida is a citizen-based environmental advocacy organization that works on behalf of its more than 3,500 members (and counting!). Our core mission is simple: to protect Florida's clean air, clean water, and open space. In practice, our professional staff combines independent research, practical ideas and tough-minded advocacy to preserve our state's wild places and natural beauty, protect Floridians from toxic pollution, reduce our material consumption, build sustainable transportation and communities, and shift to 100% clean energy. Overcoming powerful special interests invested in the status quo is no easy task, so we work tirelessly for our members, the environment and the future.

Building a greener future.

Victory for the Everglades.

Because of your support, this summer Environment Florida successfully blocked a proposal from Lowe’s that would have placed a new superstore past the development boundary that protects sensitive wetlands of the Everglades from pollution and destruction.

Pristine coastline.

With support from members like you, so far we’ve managed to stop plans to open our coast to new oil and gas drilling. We’ll continue fighting to protect and preserve our world-famous coastline for future generations.

A growing clean-energy economy.

By taking advantage of our natural resources to power Florida with clean energy like solar and wind, we could bring thousands of new green jobs to our state while we cut down on global warming emissions. We helped win support for President Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the down payment on a clean energy economy for our state and our country.

Take Action:

Experts say our government can save our last 100 Florida panthers by putting 3,548 square miles of South Florida wetlands out of the reach of big developers, miners and road-builders. But only five Members of Congress from Florida have spoken out. We need you to urge Florida's representatives to act now.
