Experts say our government can save our last 100 Florida panthers by putting 3,548 square miles of South Florida wetlands out of the reach of big developers, miners and road-builders.

But only five Members of Congress from Florida have spoken out. We need you to urge the rest of our leaders to act now.

Letter * Dear Representative, I'm urging you to save our last 100 Florida panthers by asking President Obama and the Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar, to protect critically important South Florida wetlands from development. Rampant overdevelopment is the leading cause of panther endangerment. Developers are forcing changes that carve panther habitat up into degraded, uninhabitable parcels. Road builders are turning panthers' native wetlands into killing fields. As a result, there are between 80 to 100 Florida panthers left alive today. Experts say we can save the panther by putting 3,548 square miles of South Florida wetlands out of the reach of big developers, miners and road-builders. These wetlands represent the minimum amount of land needed for the panther to make a full recovery, according to the best available science. But in order for this to happen, you must speak out and make sure President Obama and the Interior Department know you're serious about ensuring a future for our endangered panthers.
