In a unanimous decision, the Florida Public Service Commission voted on June 5th to deny Florida Power & Light’s “Needs Determination” permit for the Everglades Coal Plant.  This vote represents a stunning setback for efforts by FPL to build one of the largest coal plants in the country, in one of the most endangered ecosystems in the world.

Governor Crist deserves credit for putting global warming and clean energy at the top of Florida’s policy agenda, as this was clearly a major factor in the Public Service Commission's decision.

Please sign the petition below thanking the Governor for protecting the Everglades by opposing the Everglades Coal Plant.

Petition Text:

Dear Gov. Crist,

Thank you for standing up for the Everglades and rejecting the Everglades Coal Plant proposal.  Please continue to make protecting Florida's environment and reducing global warming emissions a top priority.
