Offshore drilling: Obviously not the answer.
In making the case for opening the Florida coast to oil drilling, last week President Bush said that "One obvious solution [to rising demand for oil] is for America to increase our domestic oil production." No amount of drilling off Florida’s coast is going to change the fact
that our nation only has 3% of the world’s oil reserves, and that we
consume 25% of the world’s oil supply. Lifting the moratorium would not
ease pain at the pump for average Americans. Just last year, the
president signed a bill to open 8 million acres to new drilling, and
instead of going down, gas prices are now at an all time high. Tell your U.S. Representative to stand up for our coast, not undermine decades of protection. Follow these 3 easy steps to help out.
