The signs are everywhere. Temperatures are
rising, glaciers are melting, and Florida and
the Gulf Coast recently suffered through two of
the most devastating hurricane seasons in history.
With no action from Washington, D.C.,
many states are already making progress on their own plans to curb global warming
emissions, and are using new technologies like cleaner cars and renewable
energy to meet their goals.
This summer, Governor Crist signed an executive order that sets a
goal of reducing Florida's global warming emissions by 80% by 2050,
which is what scientists say we must do to prevent the worst effects of
global warming.
Environment Florida staff are working closely
with the Governor and other state policy makers to implement policies
to acheive this goal, and make Florida a leader in reducing global
warming pollution.
