Florida treasures at risk

The Florida Keys, Everglades, pristine panhandle beaches, our state park system—these treasures are a big part of what makes Florida special. Our natural areas provide us with clean drinking water, beautiful places to take our families for a swim or nature hike, and give us a glimpse into Florida’s natural heritage.

Unfortunately, out of control development is threatening these special places. Every day, 1,000 people move to Florida placing enormous pressure on our forests, springs, barrier islands, working farms, and other important green and open spaces.  Far too many of our natural areas are being destroyed to make room for new strip malls, subdivisions, golf courses and other developments.

It’s time for our elected officials to stand up to the big developers and provide the planning and resources we need to preserve Florida’s natural environment for future generations.
